Much of Adam Copeland, better known as WWF superstar Edge, remaina a mystery. And just as his entraance music suggests-if you think you know him, you don;t. Sometimes even he finds his ring persona grappling with his real life identity. " I answer more now to Edge than I do to Adam," Admits the Orangeville, Ontario native. Copeland got his start after winning an essay contest through The Toronto Sun.
"The essays were submitted to Sully's Gym in Toronto," he explains. "The winner got free traing and they chose me! That was the beginning, which was good because at the time, coming from a single-parent family and being 17-years-old, there wasn't a lot of extra money floating around for wrestling classes."
Now a far cry from his struggling past, Edge has become what McMahon considerd a "definite crowd-pleaser," holding former tag team, King of the Ring and Intercontinental Champion honors-the latter of which he recently lost to that brass-knuckled Brit William Regal at the Royal Rumble." I'll get my opportunity again," Copeland promises, adding it would be "cool" to get the title back at WrestleMania and for the second time at SkyDome.
Speaking of WrestleMania, Copeland has some favorite memories of the event himself. One is shared with childhood chum Jason Reso:a.k.a. Christian. "The first WrestleMania that Christian and I ever participated in was WrestleMania XVI," says Copeland. "We won the tag-team championship...we had dreamed of it since we were kids."
